NEWS

We are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the second annual President's Blue and Gold Award, and two brand new awards, the Alan Shepard Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award of Excellenceand the Linda Grayson MAC Achievement Award. The recipients of these awards will be celebrated together with other award winners at the Ryerson Awards Night gala event on April 4, 2013.

Recognition is an integral part of creating a work culture that puts people first. Based on your feedback in the People First Survey, we're continuing to work on ways to make sure employee contributions are recognized and celebrated.

The Alan Shepard Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award
The Alan Shepard Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award is new and recognizes the outstanding achievements of one individual, team, or organization in the Ryerson University community, who advanced equity, diversity and inclusion at Ryerson through outstanding dedication and excellence in providing services for diverse populations, fostering an inclusive environment inside and/or outside the classroom, and/or addressing equity.

The Linda Grayson MAC Achievement Award
The Linda Grayson MAC Achievement Award has been created to recognize the significant and specific contribution of one individual in the Management and Confidential (MAC) group each year, who has demonstrated excellence in service delivery and commitment, and has achieved outstanding results that had a significant impact on the lives of students, staff, faculty, and/or other community members.

Brian Segal Awards
For students with sustained academic proficiency and outstanding contribution to the cultural and/or athletic life of Ryerson on a voluntary basis; minimum 3.00 CGPA.

Dennis Mock Awards
The Dennis Mock Student Leadership Awards recognize graduating students who have made outstanding extracurricular contributions to their School or academic Program Department, or to Ryerson as a whole. The awards acknowledge and encourage student participation in university affairs. Students must be nominated for these awards.

Errol Aspevig Award for Outstanding Academic Leadership
The Errol Aspevig Award for Outstanding Academic Leadership will be granted to an individual who has advanced the mission of Ryerson University through outstanding academic leadership. It may be granted for prominent University achievements led by the individual or for high quality service over a period of time that has contributed significantly to the enhancement of academic life at Ryerson. It may be awarded for service at the Departmental, Faculty, or University level. The award will be given every two years if the University-wide selection committee is satisfied that there is a meritorious nominee.

Errol Aspevig Undergraduate Award
To recognize the highest academic and broader intellectual achievements and interests of an undergraduate full-time third-year student; must achieve a minimum 3.00 Term GPA in each of the first four semesters of the program; a minimum 3.67 CGPA at the end of fifth semester and 3.67 CGPA at the end of sixth semester; enrolled in 4 units or higher in third year; clear academic standing; planning to return to fourth year.

George Vari Award for Good Citizenship
To recognize students who have made outstanding extracurricular contributions to university life, to their school or academic department, or to Ryerson as a whole; enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree; completed at least one full year of study at Ryerson; min. Gates Cambridge Trust
Gates Cambridge Scholarships are full-cost awards for graduate study and research in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. A small number are also available for study towards a second undergraduate degree.

Traditional Fullbright Student Awards
Canada-U.S. Fulbright Student Awards are intended for Canadian graduate students and junior professionals who wish to enrol in a graduate studies program in the United States. Applications for acceptance into American or Canadian graduate programs should coincide with your application to the Fulbright program.

Rhodes Scholarships
The Rhodes Scholarships are funded from the will of Cecil John Rhodes and have been awarded to applicants annually since 1902 by the Oxford-based Rhodes Trust on the basis of academic qualities, as well as those of character, sympathy for and protection of the weak, and leadership. The Rhodes Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship for postgraduate study, providing full funding (including tuition fees, living expenses and travel expenses) for two years of study at Oxford, with the possible extension for a third year. Eleven of these scholarships are awarded in Canada through a series of provincial selection processes. Two scholarships are awarded to Ontario applicants.

The President’s Blue and Gold Award is a new award that recognizes the outstanding achievements of one individual and one team in the administration of the University, who advanced the mission of Ryerson University through outstanding dedication and excellence in providing services, participating or leading teams, and demonstrating the Ryerson values.

The Award for the individual recipient consists of a certificate and a monetary award of $2,000 to be presented at the annual Ryerson Awards Night. The team achievement award, presented to a group of 2 to 10 individuals, consists of individual certificates, and a total monetary award of $3,000 to be shared equally amongst the team members.
