On Friday May 18, Yonge and Dundas Square will come alive as hundreds of Toronto high school students go head-to-head in engineering and design competitions.
The first annual Design on Dundas event will pit students from twelve Toronto high schools against each other in a popsicle stick bridge building competition and a rocket launching competition. Popsicle stick bridges will be judged on design and performance as they are tested with weights of 20 lbs or more. Rockets will be judged on accuracy in hitting a specific target. Judging of each competition will take place at 1 p.m. Capstone projects completed by Ryerson University engineering, science and architecture students will also be on display as part of the Innovation Showcase.
