



Ryerson University will award an honorary doctorate to producer and director Ivan Reitman, in recognition of his contributions to the North American film industry. He will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree at the Faculty of Communication & Design convocation ceremony on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m.
Best known for his films Ghostbusters, Animal House and the Oscar-nominated Up in the Air, Reitman has received a number of awards throughout his 40-year career including Director of the Year by the United States-based National Association of Theatre Owners as well as a Special Achievement Award at the Canadian Genie Awards. He has received People’s Choice Awards for Animal House and Twins and is also the director of Meatballs, one of the most successful films ever made in Canada. Reitman currently heads The Montecito Picture Company, a film and television production company.
