RCC, PIT and ILC power shutdown overnight May 2

April 24, 2024

Facilities Management and Development (“Facilities”) will be conducting preventative maintenance on some of the power systems in Pitman Hall (PIT) and the International Living/Learning Centre (ILC). For the safety of workers and building occupants, this work requires power shutdown and disconnection from the main service line, which will also disrupt power in the Rogers Communications Centre (RCC).

The power shutdown has been scheduled to take place overnight beginning Thursday, May 2 at 11 p.m. with power to be restored by 6 a.m. Friday, May 3 to reduce the impact on building occupants' daytime activities.

How this may impact you

For public safety, only authorized personnel will be able to access the buildings throughout the power outages.

The shutdowns have been scheduled overnight to minimize disruptions. Before the outages, TMU Security staff will circulate and instruct any remaining occupants to vacate the buildings. TMU Security staff will remain onsite in case emergency access is required.

In addition to access restrictions, all building power, OneCard readers and elevators will be unavailable during the outages.

The parking garages will be out of service during the outage. If you need to retrieve your vehicle from the PIT or ILC garage, please do so before 11 p.m. Thursday.
