Krishan Mehta named assistant vice-president, engagement

It is my pleasure to announce that Krishan Mehta has accepted the new position of assistant vice-president, engagement, with University Advancement at Ryerson. In this role, Krishan will lead the Alumni Relations team, while embracing a broader mandate of engagement across a variety of communities of shared interest at the university. He will start in the role on September 10.

Since joining Ryerson in 2013, Krishan has been a key player in the success of Ryerson’s advancement activities and is currently executive director, campaigns. He was a major contributor to the achievements of the Make Your Mark campaign, which raised more than $200 million for student awards, research, programs and capital projects. He has been instrumental in bringing new volunteers and supporters to the university. Krishan was also involved in the strategic review of Alumni Relations undertaken in 2016.

Krishan earned his PhD in 2016 from the University of Toronto, examining immigrant philanthropy and the role of charitable giving in the making of the new Canadian establishment. He is an instructor in the Fundraising Management Certificate program at The Chang School and in Carleton University’s Master’s in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership. Krishan is also the immediate past-president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Greater Toronto Chapter.

Krishan came to Ryerson in October of 2013 from Seneca College where, as executive director of marketing and advancement, he provided strategic leadership on all major gift and annual fundraising campaigns, marketing, student recruitment, and alumni relations.
